EMC Shield Clamps for 8-18mm Cable, Screw Mount | LF2Z-M|MSKL 8-18

The LF2Z-M|MSKL 8-18 pairs an MSKL spring-steel shield clamp with a double strain relief foot, so the cable shield is earthed and the cable jacket is anchored twice at the same point – the arrangement PROFINET installation guidelines call for. It covers shield diameters from 8 to 18 mm, the larger of the two MSKL sizes, which spans most industrial bus and motor cable.

Construction:

The clamp is a sprung stirrup that presses onto the exposed cable shield and holds contact without adjustment. Because of the MSKL geometry the clamping range is wide while the assembled width stays small, so clamps can be set close together in high-density applications. The connection is shock and vibration resistant and maintenance free.

Application:

Earthing the cable shield to the enclosure needs a low-resistance connection over as large a contact area as possible. The icotek clamp achieves up to 50% more shield contact area than a conventional shield bracket, which improves dissipation of high-frequency interference on measurement and control circuits. The two strain relief positions on the foot take the mechanical load off the shield contact itself.

Mounting:

Screw the foot to a mounting plate through the M4 fixing hole. Where a clamp is being added to an existing assembly it is usually enough to loosen the existing screw, slide the foot underneath and re-tighten. Fix the cable jacket to the foot with standard cable ties.
