Where RV-K wins.
Most industrial jobs don't need the cost of rubber or the thermal limits of PVC. Here's how RV-K sits against the two cables it usually replaces.

|
|---|---|---|---|
| Orange Circular (PVC) | Top Cable RV-K | H07 Rubber | |
| Position | Basic choice | Preferred choice | Extreme environments |
| Relative cost | Low | Mid — best value | High |
| Install effort | Rigid Class 2 — heavy pulls, big bends | Class 5 — faster pulls, tighter bends | Class 5 flexible |
| Water rating | Damp only | AD8 submersible | AD8 submersible |
| Cable size for the job | Larger cross-section — 70 °C rating | Runs a size smaller for the same load — 90 °C XLPE | 90 °C |
| Best for | Basic power | Industrial all-rounder | Heavy mechanical |
Indicative positioning for typical fixed industrial installs. See the datasheet for AD8 submersion conditions and limits.
The smart alternative
Stop over-speccing with expensive rubber for static installs, and stop accepting the thermal limits of standard PVC. Top Cable RV-K hits the industrial sweet spot.
It matches the 90 °C thermal rating of rubber and offers Class 5 flexibility for tight-radius bends, but lands at a price point closer to orange circular. That makes it the logical choice for industrial sub-mains, variable-speed-drive (VSD) feeders and complex cable trays — where easier handling translates directly into labour savings.
One cable, fewer line items. Standardising on RV-K simplifies inventory across the majority of your industrial power and control runs.

Need a different cable?
RV-K is the industrial all-rounder. For two specific jobs, step across to its siblings in the Top Cable cable range.
The low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) version — same XLPE electrical spec as RV-K, CPR-classified (B2ca / Cca) to stay low-smoke and non-toxic in a fire. For public buildings, data centres, hospitals, schools and transport.
The heavy-duty rubber version — a tough rubber sheath for abrasion, impact and repeated flexing. For construction, mobile plant, pumps, hoists and harsh outdoor power.

Our PACs assist with cable selection, current and voltage sizing, compliance and installation advice — and cut RV-K to length off the drum before it ships. Technical support from local experts across QLD/NT, NSW/ACT and VIC/SA/TAS.
Top Cable RV-K
-
RV-K is a European-engineered, highly flexible low-voltage power cable (0.6/1 kV) for demanding industrial environments. It uses cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation for a 90 °C rating, Class 5 flexible copper conductors for easier installation, and a robust PVC sheath for superior weather and chemical resistance.
-
It's engineered for versatility — dry or wet areas, outdoors, direct burial, in conduit, and fully immersed in water (AD8). Its flexibility makes it ideal for complex layouts and tight spaces. See the datasheet for submersion conditions and limits.
-
Yes. RV-K is manufactured to IEC 60502-1 (0.6/1 kV) and certified by AENOR, Bureau Veritas, KEMA-KEUR and RETIE. It's widely used throughout Europe and meets stringent international requirements.
-
The UV-protected PVC outer sheath resists chemicals and oils for long-term reliability outdoors and in industrial settings. It operates from −40 °C to +90 °C and withstands short-circuit temperatures up to 250 °C.
-
RV-K is flame retardant to IEC 60332-1. For public spaces and fire-sensitive infrastructure where low-smoke zero-halogen performance is required, specify the TOXFREE N2XH flex (AS) equivalent.
-
Fixed industrial connections, machinery wiring, control panels, temporary power for construction and events, submersible pump installations, marine and shipbuilding — and any application needing high flexibility and durability.
-
Yes. Its higher current-carrying capacity and flexibility mean faster installation, less labour and the potential to use smaller cable sizes for the same application — delivering long-term savings against both rubber and PVC.
-
RV-K is available in a wide range of cross-sections and can be supplied on 100 m or 500 m drums, or cut to length, to suit your project. Talk to a PAC for the right configuration.
-
With national distribution, deep inventory and local technical support, you get consistent supply, rapid delivery and expert assistance — keeping projects on track and simplifying your cable inventory.
One cable. Multiple applications. Zero compromise.
RV-K simplifies your inventory and powers every industrial job with confidence — stocked, cut to length and supported locally through TROPAC.
